Sharon Porter is a certified Nutritional Therapy Consultant, and the founder of Gut Level Nutrition LLC – a private practice located in Montrose, CO offering nutritional therapy services, nutrition education, personalized meal planning, cooking instruction, and other supporting services.

Sharon has helped many individuals resolve a wide variety of health challenges through dietary recommendations, and she especially enjoys helping her clients restore digestive wellness.  Operating within the scope of functional nutrition, Sharon is trained to assess nutritional imbalances, then recommend dietary and supplement choices to help restore optimal wellness in the face of such challenges as GERD/heartburn, gallbladder dysfunction, IBS and/or SIBO, candida and parasites, as well as gut-related mental health challenges, allergies and immune system issues.

Sharon began practicing holistic nutrition in 2009, and culminated her 25-year nutrition education with her Nutritional Therapy Consultant certification in 2014.  In recognition of her academic excellence and leadership skills, Sharon was invited by the Nutritional Therapy Association to be on their Instructor Team for the Nutritional Therapy Training NTC Program in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sharon currently holds professional memberships with the National Association of Nutrition Professionals, American Nutrition Association, the Weston A. Price Foundation, the Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation, and the Nutritional Therapy Association.

Prior to pursuing her life passion of holistic nutrition, Sharon practiced architecture in Taos, NM for 17 years.  As a licensed architect and Certified Permaculture Designer, her practice focused on designing sustainable, toxin-free homes with fully integrated food-producing landscapes.  She feels that her current nutritional therapy practice is a natural extension of her prior career as an architect – because true health is built upon solid nutritional foundations that are custom-designed and well-built!

Sharon grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas, before moving to the beautiful Rocky Mountains in 1993.  She is married to Bert Middleton (who is also a nutritional therapist) and she loves to ski, dance and garden…both for fun and health.  Sharon has been cultivating her intuitive spiritual awareness since 2001, and is an initiated Kuraq Akulleq Peruvian Shaman and Earthkeeper.  From these wisdom teachings, Sharon has developed a profound respect for the Laws of Nature, which form the basis of her philosophy toward wellness – that if we learn how to listen to and respect our body's innate intelligence, it will always guide us back toward a state natural wellness....when we give it what it needs.

To help people connect more deeply with their nourishment, Sharon also teaches the joy and know-how of food gardening. Sharon inspires and educates people to start growing their personal nutrition - both in the garden and in their lifestyle/dietary choices.
